31st Ballyhuskard Scouts

Sunday 19th February was a landmark moment in the history of 31st Wexford Ballyhuskard group. Ballymurn hall played host to the inaugural investiture ceremony of 58 scouts and 12 adult scouters, the hall was full of family and friends who turned up to support 29 Beavers and 29 Cubs making their promise and be welcomed into the brotherhood of scouting.

Scouts and scouters were present from Gorey, Piercestown, Davidstown and Wexford to help with the celebrations along with Reps. from Scouting Ireland management team which included David Mc Cann the Co. Comissioner, Paddy Dempsey Cub Programme co ordinator Anne O Byrne Co. Cub co ordinator and Patsy Kelly our group facilitator who has been a huge support to the group over the past year.

Scouting Ireland complimented Ballyhuskard on their attention to detail from the ceremony to the food and the Parents of both Beavers and Cubs who were all turned out so well on the day.

The ceremony opened with Fr. Cogley giving a blessing, followed by David Mccann investing the group leader David Kelly who in turn invested all 11 scouters Cub section leader Adrian Killeen invested 29 Cubs followed by Delores Lucas who invested 29 Beavers. The ceremony concluded with the Co. Comissioner David Mc Cann presentin David with the Scouting Ireland Affiliaition Cert. which was signed by the Cheif scout Micheal Shinnock and the SQS Quality award for our outstanding acheivement for the group,john Mc Grath from Davidstown presented the group with a cheque for 200 euros,for their help with a recent bag pack.
